Artist's Statement
I have always been fascinated with the reflective and transparent quality of glass. I love to study the way light, shadow and reflection can transform a glass surface. In 2018 I began to experiment with these qualities by creating still lives on a glass table in my garden with the intention of making photographs.
It wasn’t until 2020, during the Covid lockdown, that I was able to direct most of my attention to this body of work. I would often leave objects on the table and photograph them at different times of the day, observing the way light from early morning to early evening would change the appearance of the objects and the glass table top. In many ways, I view these images as a quiet response to the multitude of events that have been taking place beyond my garden.
